BYOK — Bring Your Own API Key

BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) lets you plug in your own AI provider API keys so that AI enrichments, image generation, and listing creation use your personal subscription instead of Bharat Studio plan credits. Your keys are stored only in your browser and never sent to Bharat Studio servers.

Open API Key Settings

Go to Settings (⚙) in the sidebar → Account → API Keys. You will see three key slots: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google AI.

Get your OpenAI API key (6 steps)

1. Go to platform.openai.com and sign in. 2. Click your profile icon → "API keys". 3. Click "Create new secret key". 4. Give it a name (e.g. "Bharat Studio"). 5. Copy the key immediately — it is shown only once. 6. Paste it in the OpenAI field in Bharat Studio and tap Save.

Get your Anthropic (Claude) API key (5 steps)

1. Go to console.anthropic.com and sign in or create an account. 2. Click "API Keys" in the left sidebar. 3. Click "Create Key". 4. Copy the key shown (starts with "sk-ant-"). 5. Paste it in the Anthropic field in Bharat Studio and tap Save.

Get your Google AI (Gemini) key (6 steps)

1. Go to aistudio.google.com and sign in with your Google account. 2. Click "Get API key" on the home screen. 3. Click "Create API key in new project" (or select an existing project). 4. Copy the key shown. 5. Paste it in the Google AI field in Bharat Studio. 6. Tap Save.

Verify your key works

After saving, tap "Test Key" next to any key slot. Bharat Studio makes a minimal test API call. A green check means the key is valid and ready to use. A red error means the key was copied incorrectly or the account has no credits.

Remove a key

To remove a key, clear the text field and tap Save, or tap the X (delete) icon next to the key slot. Once removed, Bharat Studio falls back to plan credits for AI features.

proTips

•Add an OpenAI key first — it is used for text enrichment (titles, descriptions) and image generation (DALL-E). It covers the most features.

•On the Free plan, entering a BYOK key effectively gives you unlimited AI enrichments at your own API cost.

•Your API keys are stored in your browser's localStorage only — they never leave your device. Clearing browser data will remove the keys.

•Create a separate OpenAI key with a spending limit set in the OpenAI dashboard so you can control monthly AI costs.

•If you share a device with staff, be aware they can see saved API keys in the Settings page. For security, use separate logins.
